Rumbatá - A New Generation of Rumberos
We are currently working on new projects, which include the production and promotion Cuban music and dance on DVD and also in downloadable versions.
Our first project features Rumbatá, one of the best groups in Cuba right now. The film is an introduction to Rumba and examines this group and its place in the evolution of this musical tradition. The group is shown performing in various venues and includes interviews with Manolito Simonet, Giraldo Piloto and ethnomusicologist Elio Orobio, commenting on innovations in Rumba and this new generation of Rumberos from Camagüey.
This clip shows Rumbatá performing different styles of Cuban music including, Rumba: Guaguanco, Columbia and Yambu, Rap with Rumba, Batarumba, Folklore Afro- Cubano, Comparsa and Conga Camagüeyana. |
Raíces Profundas

The second work is a documentary about Juan de Dios Ramos and his famous folklore company, Raíces Profundas (Deep roots). The film contains interviews, performances, classes and rehearsals with the group and focuses on the relevance of Afro-Cuban folklore and spiritual tradition in the arts and in the community.
