Johannah Dietrich –
My classes were excellent! So much wonderful knowledge about the concepts behind playing congas and how each instrument has a role. A deep dive into the cultural elements of music in Cuba. My favorite activities on the trip were the street comparsa with Ban Rarra, getting to see musical groups from Guantanamo, and the historical city tour + rumba.
Liza Eto –
I absolutely loved every minute at the music school. The ensemble classes provided a challenge I had never had before and I learned a lot! I loved all of it. The location on the rooftop for the rumba party put it over the top!

PlazaCUBA truly provides a people-to-people experience. The staff has been well connected to the Havana music and dance community over many years, and, unlike other tours that friends have described, really gave us an inside look at how people live in Cuba. Being mostly guided around at first then being encouraged to explore places on our own later in the week worked well for me. I enjoyed being able to walk to several decent restaurants near our hotel.
Amy Soffer –
I have been playing music since the age of ten, and this was by far the best music experience of my life! I highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning/studying latin music to come and get swept away by the rhythms of Cuba.
Kenyon Williams –
It’s such an amazing experience to travel with people who KNOW the culture, KNOW the music, and KNOW the local musicians and dancers who are able to easily share their culture with you! A wonderful experience guided by experienced, knowledgeable leaders!

The Plaza Cuba excursion was brilliantly organized and executed. I could not have dreamed of a better experience. It was a week of non-stop absorption in dance and music–absolutely jam-packed! Plaza Cuba seems totally plugged into the best of Cuban music and dance. This is not something you could ever set up on your own. I cannot wait to go back!
